FAQ

Contact dermatitis is an itchy rash caused by direct contact with a substance or an allergic reaction to it. The rash isn’t contagious, but it can be very uncomfortable. Many substances can cause this reaction, such as cosmetics, fragrances, jewelry and plants. The rash often shows up within days of exposure.

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It causes whiteheads, blackheads or pimples.

Most typically, acne is not an acute disease but rather a condition that continuously changes in its distribution and severity. Usually, acne treatment is necessary for many months and sometimes years. Despite treatment, acne may cause scarring and associated negative psychological effects.

Eczema comes and goes over time. It results in very dry and sensitive skin, and can be made worse by exposure to many different things, including allergens such as pet dander or dust mites. Other common triggers include cosmetics, soaps, detergents and lotions with heavy fragrances.

Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis) Treatment
  • Keep water contact as brief as possible and use gentle body washes and cleansers instead of regular soaps. …
  • Do not scrub or dry the skin too hard or for too long.
  • After bathing, apply lubricating ointments to damp skin.
Warts are caused by certain strains of the human papilloma virus (HPV). There are lots of different strains of HPV and these cause different types of warts. HPV causes too much keratin (a hard protein) to develop in the top skin layer (epidermis). The extra keratin produces the rough, hard texture of a wart.

Warts can spread from one part of your body to another, similarly to person-to-person spread. If you pick at, touch, or scratch a wart on one part of your body, then do the same to another body part, the warts can spread to the second body part.
